Eduardo da Silva has decided not to blame English football after the horrific injury that almost ruined his career. The injury ensured that the Brazilian-born Croatian international striker failed to completely recovered till the end of his career in 2018.

Eduardo was injured towards the end of the 2008/09 campaign following the poor tackle from Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor. Arsenal were the pacesetters in the Premier Leaguebefore the league game at the St. Andrews Stadium.

The tackle from Taylor led to the horrific ankle injury picked up by Eduardo da Silva and it led to his dismissal. The Arsenal players were affected by the incident thus leading to the loss of two valuable points at the end of the game.

The Gunners were leading 2-1 against ten men into added time when Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewellequalisedfor the home team. Arsenal never recovered from the blow of that goal as the Gunners eventually lost the league title to rivals Manchester United. As a matter of fact, Arsenal finished the season in third place.

Eduardo da Silva spent almost a year on the sidelines as a result of the horrific ankle injury suffered during the Premier League clash with Birmingham City. The Croatian international sustained the injury at a time he was enjoying the best form of his Arsenal career. Eduardo didn’t reach that level again upon his return from injury. He signed for Shakthar Donetsk from Arsenal in 2010.

The attacker left the Gunners to join the Ukrainian club football giants Shakthar Donetsk after three years at the Emirates Stadium. He went on to also play for Flamengo and Atletico Paranense in Brazil before calling time on his career at the end of his contract at Legia Warsaw in Poland.
