Former Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has tweeted that Arsene Wenger should consider signing Lionel Messi during the summer.

He believes that Arsenal should invest massively in the club if they want to challenge for trophies, and he had let his feeling known on social media. He has urged Arsene Wenger to go for a top striker.

Arsenal, who finished second in the league behind Leicester City, has only managed to secure their place on the final day of the season. With all the other teams expected to invest massively during the summer, Arsene Wenger will have to invest in new players if they are going to challenge for the title next season.

So far, Arsenal has signed Granit Xhaka in an attempt to strengthen their midfield which has seen them lost 3 players. It is expected that more players should be on the way before the end of the transfer window as Wenger will want to win the title in which will probably be his last season at the club.

There is also news that Arsenal will be going after Jamie Vardy as they seek out to boost their attack. With Danny Welbeck out for at least 8 months, Wenger will be desperate for a new striker that will help boost an attack that has lacked some punch during this season. With players such as Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla around him, a player like Vardy will really feel at ease in order to fulfill his goalscoring potential.

When asked about which attacking player he would sign if he was the manager of Arsenal, Eduardo has replied that he will go for Messi. He believes that a player of this caliber will definitely improve Arsenal and help them win trophies as from next season.
